2026.9.5 — ARCELF Debuts in Paris

On September 5, 2026, ARCELF made its debut in Paris, France.

Our first stage was Bijorhca Paris, the international jewelry trade show. Selected as one of the emerging brands featured in “BRILLIANT,” we presented our 1st Collection, TSUZURE — Loose End, to the world for the first time.

For its first presentation, ARCELF chose Paris.

One of the main reasons was that I have long felt Paris to be a place with a deep interest in Japanese culture and craftsmanship—where value is found not only in technique itself, but also in the time, ideas, and people behind the making. It is also a place where cultures and sensibilities from around the world intersect through fashion, jewelry, and art.

ARCELF does not aim simply to introduce Japanese craft as “tradition.” Our intention is to reinterpret the techniques, aesthetics, and philosophies embedded within it as contemporary jewelry, and to connect them with pieces that can be chosen and cherished across cultures and borders.

Our first collection began in Kyoto, the city where I, as the founder, was born and raised.

Its starting point was Nishijin Tsume-kaki Hon-tsuzure-ori.

The tension of taut warp threads, uneven rows of wound silk, subtle shifts of light within the weave, the artisans’ fingernails shaped into tools—

TSUZURE — Loose End was born not only from the beauty of the finished textile, but also from the beauty found in the atelier itself and in the process of making that precedes it.

At Bijorhca Paris, ARCELF was given a single showcase.

Within that small space, I placed a scroll.

Written across it were memories from my childhood, my years working in fashion, my time as a writer and editor, and the path that eventually led me to found ARCELF.

My mother is a textile designer, and from an early age I was surrounded by the process of making clothes and by art. Some of my relatives were also involved in the kimono trade. My grandparents’ home was always filled with kimono, so things made by hand and passed down over long periods of time felt both special and naturally familiar to me.

I later studied fashion, worked in retail and visual merchandising, and then became a writer and editor—meeting people, listening to their stories, and putting into words the values and narratives behind what they create.

Looking back, none of these experiences exists in isolation. They overlap and come together to shape ARCELF as it is today.

The things I have seen and touched, and the words I have heard from others.

Receiving the stories and values behind them, editing them through my own perspective, and finding ways to pass them on to someone else.

That practice has changed its form of expression—from fashion, to words, and now to jewelry—while continuing to lead me to ARCELF.

The scroll was left as one continuous sheet of paper and folded into an accordion form, reflecting the idea that all of these periods of time belong to one continuous story.

On top of it, I placed the jewelry one piece at a time, together with weaving tools and threads borrowed from an atelier in Nishijin, Kyoto.

Rather than presenting the jewelry in isolation, I wanted to convey the landscapes and time encountered before each piece came into being, the presence of the makers, and the story that brought ARCELF to this point.

This was the intention behind our very first presentation.

For a brand still at the very beginning of its journey, taking this first step in Paris was never something I could have done alone.

To the artisans who have created alongside us, the team and partners who helped bring the brand into being, and everyone at Bijorhca Paris who gave us this opportunity—

I am deeply grateful to every person who has been part of the journey so far.

ARCELF will continue to visit different places and ateliers, recording and reinterpreting the techniques, the hands behind the making, the ideas that shape each process, and the beauty we encounter—leaving traces of them in jewelry.

Each time we visit a new place or atelier, something new will emerge, and the archive will grow, one piece at a time.

And when that jewelry is chosen by someone, that choice can in turn lead to new work and to what is made next.

Just as the story written on the scroll will gradually gain new chapters, ARCELF will continue to add to its own story through the places and people we encounter.
